Liverpool EMS

Welcome!!

The Liverpool EMS (BLS service) is an all-volunteer service located in rural Perry County, Pennsylvania, approximately 30 miles north of Harrisburg, the state Capitol. Liverpool is located in the northeastern part of Perry County along Route 11/15 and the Susquehanna River.

Liverpool is in a unique area of Perry County. It is a small rural town. One notices generations of families living in the area. Over the past few years, Liverpool, like other rural areas, has noticed a rise in population as housing developments have begun to appear. With a major route running through our town, Liverpool has become an ideal place to raise families out of the "hussle-and-bussle" of city life, and still being afforded the opportunity of a "realistic" commute time to Harrisburg and surrounding areas for employment.

Ambulance 59 (our County Unit Identification number) serves Liverpool Borough, Liverpool Township and Buffalo Township in Perry County and Susquehanna Township in Juniata County. We were placed on the call-box for some areas of Snyder County, as Liverpool is located at the point where Perry, Juniata and Snyder counties converge. In an area of approximately 4 miles, you can leave Perry County, travel through Juniata and be in Snyder County! Liverpool's ideal location allows the ambulance to respond to calls quicker than the closest Juniata and Snyder county units.

Another advantage (or disadvantage - depending on how you look at at) is the wide choice of hospitals. Within approximately 45-50 minutes driving time, you have about 9 hospitals to choose - from Holy Spirit (Camp Hill), Hershey Medical Center and Harrisburg Hospital, Carlisle Hospital to the south to Lewistown, Evangelical (Lewisburg), Geisinger Medical Center (Danville) and Sunbury to the north. With the "total divert" of all Harrisburg area hospitals earlier this year, it was reassuring to know that in about the same driving time we had other hospitals open to receive patients.
